A woman allegedly tried to run over her boyfriend over while they were en route to couple’s therapy, in a move which I’m certain is going to be brought up in their next session.
Veronica Roleen Gast, 30, and her boyfriend were on their way to the session when he attempted to break up with her in the car, and asked her to instead turn around and take him home.
Veronica reacted by stopping the car in the middle of the road and demanding that her boyfriend get out.
When her unnamed boyfriend did as he was told and walked out in front of the car towards the pavement, Veronica allegedly stepped on the gas pedal and ‘floored it’ towards him, sending her boyfriend over the hood of the car and shattering the windshield, cutting open his elbow in the process.
Veronica gave a different version of events to authorities, however. According to a police report obtained by Law & Crime:
‘The defendant admitted that as she was pulling away, she hit the victim with her vehicle. The defendant said she slowed down and stopped to call the police.
The defendant said she was in shock at hitting the victim, so she did not stop right away, but let off the gas.’
She also claims that the reason her windshield was broken was because her boyfriend punched it in a rage (even though he had no injuries to his fist).
Veronica has been arrested and charged with second-degree assault, criminal vehicular operation, bodily harm, domestic assault and gross negligence.
Worse still, as they didn’t cancel their therapy session within 24 hours, they also got charged for the booking despite not attending!
According to the police report, the couple had spent the morning arguing and that escalated to the boyfriend calling for a breakup.
They lived together and had been dating for roughly a year. Which seems a little early to be attending couples therapy sessions, and probably not a good sign for the long-term prospects of their relationship.
Even still, here’s hoping they can work it out…?
